Montego Bay, Jamaica

 In Montego Bay

I remember Jamaica for two main reasons: the beautiful weather, and the beautiful people.

I went when I was younger, and for a wedding, so unfortunately, I did not get to leave the resort much and explore the actual city. This is definitely not the way I normally like to travel; I actually consider there to be two types of travelers: beach goers, and city explorers. If you stay on an all inclusive resort for your entire stay in a place, you aren’t going to really get to know the place at all. So with that being said, I fully admit that my experience in Jamaica needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

However, there are some things I can definitely speak on. The most important being how wonderful the people are. The Jamaican people were some of the sweetest, warmest, welcoming, generous, and trusting people I’ve ever encountered. And I actually did meet tons of them while just walking down the beach who had nothing to do with the resort I was staying at.

Reggae culture is contagious. I bought a hat and some bracelets. I even got one braid put in with a red, yellow and green bead at the bottom. Not my shining moment.

Even if you are staying at a resort, you can probably find some street vendors selling authentic Jamaican food on the beach. You’ll smell it from a mile away. I highly recommend this.

Obviously, it’s the Caribbean, so the weather was absolutely perfect the entire time. Everything was wonderful. I was with my mom, and at the end she needed to be torn away from the beach and forced to get in the car.

Jamaica is truly a paradise.
